eachers of the Department act as advisors to provide guidance and counseling to students. This has helped many of the pass outs to get placements in National Institutes of teaching and research. Guidance is provided especially with respect to the following:
The Department has produced so far atleast 2000 PG students, 44 M.Phill and around 29 Ph.D scholars.
Guidance to the students for Indian Statistical Services (ISS), Statistical Subordinate Services (SSS), Asstt. Director and Statistical Asstt. etc.
Guidance about NET/SET/GRE/GATE and other national and state level academic competitive examinations.
Information about the prestigious research institutes like Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) conducting research in frontier areas of Statistics and procedure for joining these institutions for pursuit of research studies is also provided.
Renovation of computer lab used for data analysis by Statistical software in M.Sc. programme.Up- gradation of research quality.
The department of Statistics organized an International conference and Workshop in Oct-2008 and Oct-2013.
The Department organised one week workshop in collarabration with HRD,KU on Aug-2015.
Statistics day where observed on 29th of june 2009, and recently on 29th of june-2018 to create awareness amongst the people and to draw inspiration from late Prof.P.C.Mahalanobis. The programme was celebrated in collabration with NSSO, office Srinagar.
Our one of the student Altaf Hussain Haji has been appointed as Director in NSSO office Srinagar, Large number of pass outs have been appointed as Assistant Directors in Planning, Assistant Professors in Colleges and +2 Lecturers,SKUAST-K, SKUAST-J, and Statistical Assistants both at Senior and Junior levels.
Our Two students namely Dr.Adil Hamid Khan and Mr.Ishfaq Ahmad have qulaified the recently held SET examination of 2018. Dr. Adil was also adjudged as BEST ORAL PRESENTER in the Mathematical Sciences Section in the 8th Science congress in 2012 held at University of Kashmir.
Three(3) of our students qualified the NET exams.
The department is actively organsing the Guest lectures on frequent basis on statistics and statistical softaware.
